Africa has always been a continent rich in resources, from agricultural commodities such as coffee and cocoa, to diamonds & gems, to metals & minerals and oil.

However, the disruptive shadow of colonialism and cold war interference have left a legacy of political instability that has long prevented the economies from enjoying the full benefits of their endowment.

With consumer power shifting from West to East, and with increasing concerns about the scarcity of basic goods and raw materials, this is likely to be the century for commodities.

Combined with improved property rights, more stable political structures, and strong interest from China looking to make strategic investments, the opportunity now for Africa is emerging.
